Colchester

This suburban town is located within New London County & is about 30 minutes south of the shoreline or 30 minutes north of Hartford. Colchester spans almost 50 miles in area with several state parks and farmlands to enjoy. 


Colchester is one of the fastest growing towns in Connecticut with a population of 4,781. Located within Colchester are the villages of Westchester and North Westchester. Children would attend the local schools listed below:

In town, the Salmon River State Forest offers hiking, hunting, fishing, and picnicking. Colchester is also home to one of Connecticut’s 3 remaining covered bridges, the Comstock Bridge. The bridge connects East Hampton to Colchester and crosses over the Salmon River.
